HIS TIME HAS COME

When the Martins move their daughter from the crime-filled streets of St. Louis to the safety of the countryside, they don't realize that the rural town they think of as a haven is loaded with secrets, and the farm they lease is far from safe. It is cursed land, and they're about to find out the hard way that danger lurks everywhere, even in a small, peaceful farming community.

AND SO HAS THEIRS

In a struggle to survive until dawn, will they make it, or will they only add to the rising body count?

A 55,000+ word novel plus bonus material.

I only gave this a 2 star because I actually finished it. It started out dumb right in the beginning when a "man" with a knife comes out of the corn field, and instead of going in the house and calling the police and/or her husband, she runs out back to the barn wearing only a T-shirt and underwear. She also said way too many times.........."if this were a horror movie." If it were a horror movie, it would've been a really bad one. Furthermore, this is the second book of hers that I've read so far where she gets confused by her own characters. She calls Molly, the mother, Jenna, who is the daughter. Then she royally mixed up John and Jerry. She also tends to add words that don't belong and omit words in sentences, but this is typical of her writing.

The method used in this book is so unusual, but very entertaining. I simply can't find the words to express the most interesting choice of writing style. I have never experienced this and I found it enthralling.
-Spoilers- I did like it, but I kept wondering why the monsters head didn't just blow off already? They shot him so many times. Then at the end I found out that he cannot be killed. I didn't care for the ending.
This book is true horror, will leave you with terrifying nightmares. Is the author a descendant of the real Texas Chain Saw Massacre Family??? Horror awaits you with each turn of the page, do you have what it takes to finish this book??? If so, look for additional reads from this addictive horror writer!!!
I gave this book "Before The Harvest" 3 stars because it was okay, entertaining yet super predictable and a total rip off of the murderous scarecrow creeper monster in the movie "Jeepers Creepers" but this scarecrow is blind. With that said, the story also gets told through the characters points of views making the writing dull and boring, not to mention the main plot which is so thin and predictable. Overall I give this book 3 stars for a "ehh, what the heck nothing else to read kind of day book."
There were definitely some issues that a good reediting would take care of, but the fast pace of the store helped me to skip over them without too much trouble. Lots of madness and mayhem and pure horror from start to finish. Not a terribly unique plot, but a well told one.
To keep with the juvenile writing, I'd call this a copycat. This story has been done so many times and better. Like Jeepers Creepers II. The first chapter made me cringe. Not from the story drama, the horrible writing. A woman wakes in fear and hears the night creatures silent and a man dressed in a dark coat and wielding a knife comes out of the cornfield. Excuse me but with a child sleeping on the premises, I would have run straight inside to lock the doors and called the police and my husband. Instead, this dumb woman tip-toes around the place with little fear thinking about bad horror movies over and over like a bi-polar person off her meds. The husband POV is a bit more sane. However, I was so aggravated she put her kid in jeopardy before 12%, I zapped the mess off my . Don't know why anybody would want to finish this mess. Just didn't make sense.
I found this story interesting. It was intense, it got my heart pounding, it was creepy scary, all the elements of a good horror story were there. The writing was solid. I wasn't distracted my weird errors and such. I recommend this book.

As the cliche goes, everyone's a critic so let me add my four cents into the mix. I'll start with a huge admission I didn't read every word or chapter. I know, blasphemy. Let me explain why.

The opening chapter was intense and then it jumps to another character's story. I flipped past it because I was amped up, adrenaline moving, I wasn't going to stop to go into another story. It's important to note that I don't feel I missed any part of the story doing that because the character I skipped meets up with and explains the information anyway.

Another issue I found is that the story is entirely in first person and it takes a moment to understand whose perspective you're looking at. Maybe put the speaker's name on each chapter (I don't recall titles anyway).

Lastly, there was a lot of odd internal dialogue that I skipped over. This story was intense from start to finish. Slowing the pace by reading about self congratulations for not screaming, etc., when someone should be focused on the safety of themselves and others is frustrating.

Like I said, this is a good story. Even though I feel there's odd jumping around between characters that interrupts the flow of the story, it's well written. I will probably read more of this author's work!
